Jeffrey Lloyd Dever—Inner Space Brooch

Polymer artist Jeffrey Lloyd Dever creates wearable art. These loosing based botanical shapes whose forms and colors are inspired by his experiences in nature and as a youth are one-of-a-kind. His bright organic necklaces, brooches, and earrings in colored or dotted layers suggest buds and seed pods found in nature. Devers botanical world of blossoms are unique creations from an imagination of infinite depth and creativity is expressed in small-scale wearable forms. Crafted using polymer, these pieces are both lightweight and wearable.

From the early days of his childhood, through the hills and orchards, streams, and woodlands of his small New England home this influenced Dever’s aesthetics with a visual vocabulary of color, pattern, texture, and form. Each piece is born through a series of sketches that mature into sculptural forms through repeated cycles of fabrication, layering, and oven curing. An individual piece can easily go through dozens of such cycles and take weeks or months to complete.   The addition of tinkered wire basketry has only broadened the lexicon of possibilities to explore.
