David Lory—Black Cherry Bowl
Artist David Lory, one of the first two students to participate in an apprenticeship woodworking class at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, turns some of the most divine thin-wall wooden bowls! Not only are they visually appealing, they are also intended to be functional—made for use in your home for years on end.
The creation process begins with a selection of wood generally found in Wisconsin, Iowa, or Illinois. Each bowl is turned through to completion on a lathe, which takes between one and three hours to complete. No two bowls are alike. A marvelous gift for any special event, or for a simple everyday salad!
Lory's versatile bowls are easy to care for, just wash in soapy water while being mindful not to completely submerge them.
