John Glick—Leaf Tray
Detroit native, John Glick (1938–2017) was considered to be one of the nation’s premiere studio potters. During his lifetime, he operated a pottery in suburban Detroit where he produced and sold functional ceramics and dinnerware covered with beautiful Asian-inspired surface decorations.
John Glick was thought of as the people’s potter. In a career spanning over five decades, the ceramist has remained committed to the art and craft of functional vessels and their incorporation into the rituals of daily life. His work is in over 20 major museum collections. RAM is proud to be one of the few representatives of this late artist’s works.
