John Wilde: Exhibition Catalogue
This painter, draughtsman and printmaker of fantastic imagery was considered one of the best known contemporary artists from Wisconsin. Collection Focus: John Wilde at RAM is part of series of collections-based exhibitions featuring artists whose work Racine Art Museum holds in-depth. This 20-page catalogue features full-color images of his pieces within RAM's permanent collection, an essay on the significance of Wilde's work to the field, and follows his career development.
Wilde combined his interest in historical and modern painting with meticulously, carefully detailed drawings to create fantastical still lives, dream-like landscapes, and self-portraits. Wilde’s subjects were bountiful nature, the human form, and the human condition—his training in art history is reflected in both his style and the content of his work.
